SHANTEL & JORDON

OUR LOVE STORY

CHAPTER ONE

HOW WE MET

We had both been single for a minute, minding our business and apparently taking a little too long to figure things out.

So our spiritual mentor decided it was time to intervene. She introduced us, we started talking, and things were going pretty well… except Shantel was deep in her own head.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like Jordon or thought they weren’t a match. She just wasn’t completely convinced that she was ready to date at all. So naturally, she did what any reasonable overthinker would do: overthought the entire situation.

Meanwhile, the conversations kept getting longer. We realized we had a surprising amount in common, and somewhere along the way, talking to each other became part of our everyday lives. We were spending more and more time together virtually — with one very minor detail: we still had not seen each other’s faces.

Yes. Somehow, we were building an entire connection on vibes, conversation, and faith. Eventually, we decided it was probably time to actually meet.

And when we finally saw each other in person, Jordon immediately fell hopelessly in love with Shantel. At least, that’s how Shantel remembers it. Jordon may have a slightly different version. 😂

What we can agree on is that meeting in person changed things. The connection we had built over all those conversations felt even more natural face-to-face, and we both realized we wanted to see where this could go. So we made the decision to intentionally pursue each other and officially began courting.

Turns out Shantel wasn’t “not ready.” She just needed to get out of her head before she fumbled a perfectly good blessing. 🤎 And thankfully, God gave her enough time to figure it out.

CHAPTER TWO

THE BEGINNING

After finally meeting in person, Shantel packed her bags and headed right back to California.

Which left us with one tiny question: “Okay… so how exactly is this supposed to work?” 😂

Georgia and California aren’t exactly around the corner from each other, but somehow, we made the distance work. FaceTime and phone calls became our happy place. We talked about everything — our pasts, our faith, our compatibility, the things we wanted out of life, and eventually, what a future together could actually look like.

And the more we talked, the more one thing became clear: we wanted this to work. For real.

There was just one small problem… Shantel was not convinced she was leaving California. She had built a life there, and packing it all up to move across the country was definitely not part of the plan.

But apparently, God had already edited the plan. When Shantel’s job situation unexpectedly became unstable, life started shifting very quickly. Eventually, she found herself doing the exact thing she hadn't planned on doing — packing up her entire life in California and moving back home to Georgia. The same Georgia where Jordon lived. Coincidence? We think not.

It was bittersweet. One chapter of Shantel’s life was closing in a way she hadn't expected, but another was quietly opening at exactly the right time. Suddenly, FaceTime dates could become actual dates. Phone calls could become long drives and even longer conversations. And loving each other from across the country could finally become building something together in the same place.

By then, there really wasn't much left to figure out. We knew we loved each other. We knew we wanted a future together. And we knew that the distance was becoming absolutely unbearable.

So while Shantel may not have chosen Georgia… Georgia — and maybe Jordon — were apparently already part of the plan. God did that. 🤎

CHAPTER THREE

THE PROPOSAL

As things became more serious, our families started meeting — and that’s when we discovered another little detail: our families are from the same city in Jamaica. Out of all the places in the world. Coincidence? At this point, we’ve learned to stop calling things coincidences. 😂

And remember our pastor — the one who helped bring us together in the first place? Well, apparently, Shantel moving back to Georgia wasn’t nearly as shocking to him as it was to her. Long before the move happened, he had already been asking: “So, Shantel… when are you moving back to Georgia?” Sir… did you know something we didn’t? 😂

With the distance finally behind us and our relationship growing, we started counseling together. Those conversations gave us the space to talk intentionally about marriage, faith, family, finances, our goals, and the kind of life we wanted to build together.

And somewhere in all of that planning, questioning, praying, and dreaming, we reached something beautiful: certainty. We knew we wanted to get married.

The only question left was when Jordon was going to propose. And apparently, everyone knew the answer to that question… except Shantel.

Because while she was happily going about her business, Jordon was quietly orchestrating an entire proposal with our family and friends. And somehow — despite all the planning, secret conversations, suspicious behavior, and people apparently keeping the biggest secret of their lives — Shantel remained completely and spectacularly oblivious. 😂

Until the moment came. Surrounded by the people we love, Shantel finally realized what was happening. The tears started almost immediately. And there was Jordon — nervous, emotional, down on one knee, asking Shantel to spend the rest of her life with him.

Through the tears, shock, and approximately one million emotions… she said YES. 🤎

And just like that, another beautiful chapter began. We went from “Are we ready to date?” to “How are we going to survive this distance?” to “When are you moving back to Georgia?” to planning a whole wedding.

Which brings us to now. We’re getting married… and somehow you ended up on a website reading the entire backstory. 😂 So welcome. You’re officially caught up. Now come celebrate with us. 🤎
